It was made of some kind of roll down window shade with flannel on it. I saw something like this at a quilt show once but couldn t afford to buy it. A retractable design wall for quilters my birthday present to me this year i can hardly wait until it is delivered. My homemade roll up design wall.

The blocks are suppose to stick to it when one rolls it up for storage. Instead of taking the design wall down when it is not in use i pin one out of approx. To create the gridlines for placing your blocks mark the fabric every two inches vertically and horizontally then stitch along the grid lines to make a square grid that covers the design wall surface.
